Ako to všetko začalo? No začalo to pred dvoma rokmi, kedy som v Chile spoznala skvelých a úžasných ľudí z Mexika.  A o dva roky neskôr sa jedna z tých skvelých ľudí vydáva. No skrátka výborná príležitosť zúčastniť sa exotickej svadby a naviac k tomu spoznať túto tajomnú krajiny, ktorá je spojená s veľkým množstvom predsu dkov. Drogy, narcos, kriminalita…no nie je to práve tak. Dovoľte mi povedať k tomu niečo viac.

How did it all started? Well it started two years ago when I met the most amazing mexican people in Chile. And then suddenly, after two years, one of them is getting married. Yay! What a great occasion to be a part of it and in addition get to know a little bit about this beautiful country that carries too much prejudice. Danger, narcos, crimes….well, not exactly like that. Let me tell you our story.

Mexická svadba

Prileteli sme do mesta Monterrey, ktoré sa nachádza na severe krajiny. Prvý dojem je zvláštny, ako keby sme pricestovali do USA. Keďže sa nachádza blízko hraníc, vplyv nie je možné nezaregistrovať.

The real mexican wedding

We arrived to Monterrey, the city in the north of the country. However, the place seems to us as if we landed in the USA. Since it is very close to the borders, the influence is quite noticeable. However, the city has something special.

 

Večer pred svadbou príde ženich spolu s mariachi [mariači] – mexická folklórna skupina – a spieva neveste pod oknami. Konečne cítim pravé Mexiko. Skvelá hudba a množstvo tequily a mezcalu. Aj preto nemáme lepšie fotky.

The night before the wedding the groom comes with mexican folk group – Mariachi – and sing for the bride-to-be on the street beneath her window. Finally, I feel the real Mexico. Wonderful music and lots of tequila and mezcal. And that’s the reason why we don’t have any nice pictures. 

Svadba začína už o 11 omšou v kostole, tá časť sa pravdepodobne nemení nikde. Možno o niečo viac uvoľnenejšia, keď si mladomanželia dajú pusu, všetci na okolo začnú hlasito kričať a tlieskať.

The wedding already starts at 11 AM in the church. This part does not really change anywhere I guess. Maybe to me it seems a little bit more relaxed; when the groom kisses the bride, everybody starts claping their hands and craying out loud.

Po omši sa presúvame do salónu, ktorý sa nachádza v blízkosti zjazdu z diaľnice a všetkých 350 hostí príde autom. Takže čakáme v zápche pred vjazdom do areálu asi pol hodiny.

After the church we move to the salon which is very close to the highway exit and all the guests, around 350 to be exact, drive a car. So we keep waiting in front of the entrance to get into the areal about 30 minutes.

Svadba nám však nepríde typická.  Žiadne farebné Mexiko a typická kuchyňa, ale veľa elegancie a noblesy. Ale čo je to vlastne typické Mexiko? Moderátor zo svadby urobí úplnú show a kapela s 5 spevákmi zaspieva úplne všetko – od Johna Lenona cez miestnu hudbu, až po reggaeton či Beyoncé a sú skutočne výborní!

The wedding itself doesn’t seem traditional. No colourful Mexico or typical cuisine; in contrast, lots of elegance and noblesse. But what does the typical Mexico really means? The moderator makes the wedding a real show and the group with 5 singers can sing literally anything – from John Lennon, traditional ranch songs till reggaeton and Beyonce, and god, they are really great!!!

Keď sa na mexickej svadbe začne tancovať, tak sa jednoducho tancuje! Aj chudák Adam sa premáha, keď sme ostali sami pri stole. Svetlá zhasnú a skutočná párty začína. O 1 poobede….

When the music starts on a mexican wedding, everybody dances! Even Adam decides to dance as we were the only ones left at the table. The lights turn off and the party begins. At 1PM…

Alejandra nám vysvetlila záhadu tak skorej svadby, vraj môže byť (de día alebo de noche), čiže cez deň alebo cez noc. Pôvodne svadby prebiehali v noci, ale kvôli drogovým dealerom a ich prestrelkám nebolo veľmi bezpečné vrátiť sa v noci domov. Tak vznikli svadby cez deň, ktoré trvajú asi od 12 do 19. Dnes už je Monterrey bezpečné aj v noci, no denné oslavy ostali. Má to svoje výhody. Sú lacnejšie a salóny sú schopné v jeden deň zorganizovať dve svadby – jednu dennú a jednu nočnú.

Alejadra explained us the mystery of the day wedding. In the past, the weddings were held usually at night; however, the trouble with drugs that used to be in the city made it quite dangerous to get back home at night. So that’s when the idea of day weddings showed up. They last from 12 till 7 PM. Nowdays the city is all safe, althought the day weddings remained. It is beneficial for both sides, day weddings are cheaper and the salon is able to carry out two weddings in one day – one during the day, second at night.
